Mary Pix

Introduction

Mary Pix (née Griffith) is one of the professional female playwrghts and novelists who came into prominance at the end of the 17th century, and, like Delarivier Manley and Catharine Trotter, were satirized in 1697 in the anonymous play The Female Wits. No manuscripts by her are recorded.
